When I first heard of Tales from the Borderlands (TFTB) my first thought was how are they going to turn a hectic FPS into a point and click adventure?  I was also worried if TellTale would be able to capture the comedic delivery and insane wit of the original Borderlands series.  I’m glad to say that if the rest of the series is as good as the first episode, we are in for one hell of a great ride.

Set on the unforgiving world of Pandora after the events seen in Borderlands 2, Tales from the Borderlands is a five part episodic game series full of Borderlands’ trademark humor, following two adventurers on their quest for greatness.

You’ll play as Rhys, a Hyperion ‘suit’ with dreams of being the next Handsome Jack, and Fiona, a Pandoran con artist looking to score her biggest ever swindle. Thrown together as unwilling partners in an adventure to recover cash they both think is theirs, their journey will take you on a wild ride where gangsters, bandit lords, and Vault Hunters are just some of the obstacles you’ll encounter, in this new take on the award-winning universe created by Gearbox Software.

While action is kept to a minimum (this is an adventure game) the script and interactions you have with people throughout Pandora are spot on this is definitely a Borderlands game (more so even than the pre-sequal).  What action there is does tend to feel more like quick time events rather than giving choices but it keeps the action fresh and moving.  What really sets Tales From the Borderlands apart is how well the game makes you feel like you are actually getting another look at how the people on Pandora really live.  That the world isn’t just full of Vault hunters, murderers and Psychos….well completely

(Yes that’s Patrick Warburton’s voice)

Anyway if you are a fan of the Borderlands Franchise and are itching for an actual update of what happens after Borderlands 2 then pick up Tales From The Borderlands, its fun, actually had me laugh out loud a few times and I cant wait for the next episodes!

I BEAT IT FIRST!
