Team17 was kind enough to send us over a code to check out Marauders prior to its Early Access launch on Monday, October 3rd. If you’ve ever played Escape from Tarkov, then you will be immediately familiar with Marauders, only in space.
In Marauders, you take the roll of a space pirate, where you go out on missions in a PvPvE environment either solo, or with up to 3 other friends as you fight others in space ship combat, raid other ships and space stations, kill NPCs and other Marauders, loot, and then escape. You can complete contracts, unlock new gear to craft, and level up your affiliation with the different factions to get better gear from the shop.
While the game is in Early Access, it did crash one me once, which is to be expected. I was able to play with some friends and solo, with the preferred method being with friends. Hot tip, spend some in game currency on a different color outfit to differentiate yourself so you don’t accidentally shoot your teammates. Its important to stick together as it can be easy to mistake a friendly as an enemy.
I for one can’t wait to team up with some friends and get a full 4 person squad and get to raiding. Especially once we unlock the larger ships and testing them out. I hope to see you soon in space.
