FIFA 17 to be Powered by Frostbite

Today EA announced that FIFA 17 will be powered by the Frostbite engine for the first time. The Frostbite engine is better known for powering the Battlefield franchise, so it’ll be interesting to see how it handles a sports game, especially one as big as FIFA. One thing is for sure though is that it’ll make FIFA look amazing as it has done so in Battlefield and Battlefront.

“Frostbite unlocks a whole new world of possibilities for the FIFA franchise and its fans,” said David Rutter, VP and Executive Producer. “We have never been as excited as we are today about the future of football and the experiences we are going to deliver in FIFA 17.”

EA has introduced four of what it call football ambassadors to create FIFA 17. These ambassadors have helped them create a more realistic game, and come at the hands of James Rodriguez (Real Madrid), Anthony Martial (Manchester United), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), and Marco Reus (Dortmund). As a preorder bonus, they will be offered as loan players in FIFA 17 Ultimate Team.

Gameplay will be revealed at EA Play on June 12th, and the game will be released on September 27th in North America and September 29th worldwide for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3. Full preorder details ca be found here.
