Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is a first-person tactical shooter that places players int he middle of a new Cold War. Survival means more than just pulling the trigger. Players must navigate the harsh landscape and warring factions to triumph in a variety of missions that build on the Scout-Sniper mechanics to introduce melee tactics, traps, drone strikes and more.
While at E3 we were invited to take a first look and even received some hands on time with the current build. Interesting additions this time around are the all new Drone, Scout mode, weapon crafting, open world, dynamic weather and lively AI. The Drone allows you to scout ahead areas to find enemies before moving forward, find traps or even hack into surveillance mainframes. Scout mode allows you to use your training to track enemies movements, find land mines or even keep an eye out to find perfect sniper points. All recon used in game is fond and used by you, there is not a magical voice or boss squawking in your ear giving you updates and the missions success fully depends on how you want to approach the target.
Recon will continue to be important as the enemy AI has been worked to not just follow a specific pattern or scripted to expose defects ie taking a smoke break. Enemy troops are on active duty and follow their role or job day and night. Meaning enemies have a life and may or may not be in the same place you last saw them depending on time of day.
Being a Sniper game the primary weapons available are Sniper Rifles however there is a long list of available side arms and machine guns to add a little variety. The crown jewel of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is the crafting and safe house additions. Picking up weapons off of defeated enemies allows you to change and upgrade your currently unlocked weapons and all Rifles are updated live as you progress.
While Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is still in early alpha stages the team at Ci Games has an ambitious release schedule of Q2 2016 and is easily the best looking realistic sniper experience to date. Of course we will keep you updated as we learn moar.
