It’s been 4 years since Just Cause 2 came out, and 8 years since the first Just Cause came out. Today, Square Enix announced that Avalanche Studios was hard at work on Just Cause 3, and would be coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 next year.
Christofer Sundberg, founder and Chief Creative Officer at Avalanche Studios, said “We’ve been waiting for this moment ever since Just Cause 2 was released. This is the culmination of a decade’s worth of open-world evolution and innovation. In JUST CAUSE 3, we’ve sent Rico to a beautiful Mediterranean archipelago. He is of course bringing his Grapple and Parachute, both with game-changing upgrades, as well as the brand new Wingsuit. JUST CAUSE 3 truly represents the next generation of chaotic sandbox fun, and we can’t wait to show you more next year.”
Not much is yet known about Just Cause 3 other than that Game Informer has exclusive coverage that will be in their December issue, as well as trickling out on their website. However, thanks to Chistofer, we do know that this installment will be on a group of islands in the Mediterranean, where the first two took place an island in the Caribbean and then one off the coast of Peru. Seeing as both had Rico on a mission to overthrow a dictator, I doubt this one will vary much from this, or the over the top action the series is known for. As it stands, I’ll wait until more concrete info comes out before passing judgement on Just Cause 3.
