Starting on February 22nd FFXIV will begin it’s PS4 beta, bringing the realm of Eorzea to Sony’s pretty new console. I think Square has forgotten what the term “beta” means though as it’s being reported that the only stipulation you will have is that you need own a PS4; meaning if you have a PS4, you’re in the beta. Technically this is the smartest choice as it will allow them to test everything that they built on on the PS3 and PC w/ the PS4 while simultaneously giving everyone an extended trial of the game. So, grab your buster sword and mount up your chocobo because everyone gets to have some fun on Square’s dime.

Yeah, but if I remember how this went on the PC/PS3 99% of your time will be spend downloading and updating the game, then you’ll get a solid hour of actually playing the game for free lol.

I have a feeling that since it’s going to be available to everyone with a ps4, it’s more about making sure the networks are compatible and the graphics work than tuning the interface. The ps3 Beta wasn’t too bad.
