Mad Catz Proves it has 9 Lives

Mad Catz, the peripheral manufacturer most known for making cheap see through plastic console controllers with a turbo button, you know, the ones that were relegated to 2nd player, is back from the dead. Mad Catz had bet it all on Rock Band 4, and lost big entering bankruptcy and closing down back in March of last year. This is a new year, and they are back under new management which is made up of people that worked at the Chinese factories.

“Known for their award-winning range of R.A.T.™ gaming mice, arcade FightSticks, gaming headsets and much more besides, the new Mad Catz will focus first on quality, committed to producing innovative gaming products, designed and engineered in-house to stand out amongst the competition and deliver superlative performance for gamers of all abilities.”

I never tried their R.A.T. gaming mice, or any of their latest products, which apparently were well reviewed. Instead, like you, I still remember them for their low quality controllers. They will be displaying a new line of PC gaming products at CES, but so far, no fight sticks. Of the products they are showing , it’s your usual run of the mill for PC Gaming. A gaming mouse, a RGB mechanical keyboard, mouse pad, and headset. The one interesting piece of info though concerns the gaming mouse, which is the R.A.T.Air. The mouse is said to be an evolution of their previous mice, now wireless. When you get the mouse, you also get a mouse pad that sounds like it actually a large wireless charger for the mouse. The mouse itself doesn’t actually have a battery, but uses the pad for power. It also comes with a USB cord that can be plugged into the mouse in case you don’t use the included pad. The rest of the products don’t sound too exciting in their short descriptions, and may turn out to be the meh CES usually delivers. Either way, we should know more info next week.
