E3 2016: Brut@l First Impressions

I took one look at Brut@l for the PS4 and could immediately tell what the creator’s inspiration for the game was… and I liked it.  Brut@l is a dungeon crawling game that is completely made up of ASCII.  Everything from the characters, the spells, and even the dungeon itself is comprised of ASCII characters.  The game was designed to be what people who played text-based RPG’s envisioned while they played them many years ago, and it works extremely well.  The best part is that even though many gamers under 30 won’t be able to relate to that aspect of the game, it’s still a visually stunning dungeon crawler that can still work if you don’t understand the basic reasoning.

I played as the wizard and easily traversed through the first 2 levels of the dungeon thanks to the helpful developer Richard Wood.  There will be a total of 26 dungeon levels in all and I can’t wait to traverse them all when it’s released.  The game should be released on the PS4 soon and I will highly recommend that every RPG/Dungeon Crawler fan pick it up for their collection.  Make sure you bring a friend with you because it has built-in local Co-Op and from what the devs say, you’ll need it.
