The winter season is over, and the spring season has just begun. I’ll be updating this post as I watch the first episode of several of the show’s kick off their season.
Fate/Stay Night – Unlimited Blade Works Season 2
Story: Fate/Stay Night is about a battle of mages who summon heros from the past to battle it out in Fuyuki City, Japan in order to claim the Holy Grail.
Themes: Fantasy, Action, Drama, Romance
Preview: The first episode of season 2 kicks off right where season 1 left off, so it might be worth it to re-watch at least the final episode of the first season. If you’ve watched the first season, you know what you are in for, and after watching the first episode, this really should have been the season finale for season 1. I enjoyed season 1 and Fate/Zero, so I’m looking forward to how the rest of this season plays out.

Plastic Memories:
Story: In Plastic Memories, there are robots that look and act so much like humans, you won’t be able to notice the difference between the two. These robots have a short lifespan of roughly 9 years and 4 months until they start to loose there memories and malfunction. SAI Corp., that makes these robots has a division that retrieves these robots when their time is due, sending a two person team of one robot and one human to collect them and erase their memories.
Themes: Science Fiction, Drama
Preview: This is one of the new anime’s I was looking forward to this season, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s off to a very strong start, with some comedy, and a lot of feels. This is looking to be a very good show.

Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign
Story: Everyone over the age of 13 dies and the children that are left are rounded up by vampires and brought to their underground city to be treated like cattle as they harvest their blood like a rancher milks a cow.
Themes: Fantasy, Apocalyptic, Drama, Action
Preview: Holy shit this is a dark show. They could have easily dragged the first episode into an entire season or movie. It opens with everyone dieing and a group of kids from an orphanage being taken by vampires. That in itself could be an episode, or how one of them struggles to view the others as family, as his family was no treat that got him there. Then there is the struggle they go through to survive once captured by the vampires, and that ending. Oh that ending. That ending is season finale worthy. Watch this show, but just know that it is extremely dark.

Gunslinger Stratos
Story: Gunslinger Stratos is based off an arcade game, where two parallel worlds are starting to fuse together, and each one sends gunslingers to 2015 to kill the other off and erase them from existence.
Themes: Science Fiction, Action
Preview: Gunslinger is off to an ok start. Others have given it a lot of flak, especially those who have played the game. I myself am completely new to the franchise, so from my perspective, it’s not absolute shit, but it’s not the best either. If you have nothing else to do, you can give it a watch, but if you don’t, you’re not really missing out on anything yet.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan
Story: The nation of Pars is at war with Lusitania , which is a very religious nation that wants to purge the land of those that don’t follow it’s religion and treats all men as free. Pars however holds slaves, and Arslan is the crowned prince of this nation who must eventually lead it into battle.
Themes: War, Drama, Fantasy
Preview: The Heroic Legend of Arslan is taking on the daunting task of telling both sides of the conflict. Lusitania views all men as equals and free, however they are also religious zealots. Pars is set up as the protagonist nation, which holds slaves. Previous adaptions of the story have been made, but this is my first experience with it, and so far I’m intrigued. This could end up being a pretty decent anime.
