SBA: Why do game companies keep making live action trailers?

While yes I do think that some of the live action stuff can look cool, I see dropping the video on the web as more of a keeping the momentum going and not a building momentum for a launch.  The LAV should be made and then released a little after the game comes out so that it gets people to continue to buy the game.  If you’re trying to build up steam for the launch, how about showing us some parts of the story or what some actual gameplay looks like.  Case in point is the God of War Ascension video above.  Sure there are a lot of people that will be buying the game regardless, but I feel that the series has gotten a little stagnant and don’t feel the addition of multi-player is really a great selling point to me.  That brings me to my second point, this game comes out in a little over a month and we don’t really know what regular gameplay looks like or some of the aspects of the story.  Sure we can infer things from the live action video, but I would like to see what more than just a bunch of schlubs playing a LAN game looks like.  Show some actual gameplay, let us know where the story is going… I’M NOT PAYING $60 FOR A MEDIOCRE STORY AND MULTI-PLAYER!!!!!  Ok, I’m putting the soapbox away for now, but let us know what you think in the comments.
