Why is this the image that I think of when I think of FFVersus:XIII? Because this is what I have been doing since it was originally teased since E3 2006. What’s that? No way this game has been in production for most likely OVER 7 years? WRONG!!!! It has and prepare for an even longer wait as Square has now said that they are STILL working on the game. Following the utter lack of a Versus showing at TGS this year, Tetsuya Nomura made the following statements:
“We’re continuing work on Versus” & “Because all staff is hard at work on the game, please wait a little longer for a follow up report.”
Seriously though, we’ve seen gameplay footage for YEARS and we know that it’s basically Kingdom Hearts without the whimsy of Disney (kept firmly in the gritty FF Universe), and yet there isn’t even so much as a demo. Sadly it seems like they are doing exactly what happened to Duke and continually tweeking items because they have fallen behind the times. At some point you need to decide to just stop and release a product, even if it may end up being kinda meh because of the datedness of key elements. Unfortunately the Square has crossed, burned, and already pissed on the bridge of profitability, so they can give up on that dream ever becoming possible. Square… STOP TWEEKING AND PUT ONE LAST SPITSHINE ON THE GAME! With all of the waiting and anticipation for this game, it will NEVER be good enough for the masses so just release it and accept the 50-60% ratings that you will get no matter what.
