NIS America was showing off Ys (pronounced Eas, like East without the t) VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on the Nintendo Switch at the Sega/Atlus booth this year. Ys VIII is coming out on June 26th for the Nintendo Switch, so they were showing it off for the North American release. Playing it, it really reminded me of a PS2 style action JRPG, and that’s exactly what I want I want. This game reminded me off old great JRPGs with an real time action based combat system, rather than the traditional turned based style.
If you’re familiar with previous entries of Ys, you star the same main character on a new adventure. You get deserted on an island and have to found a village with other survivors who can provide resources or join you party as you search for others. I really enjoyed my time with the game, and will be posting a deeper dive in the coming days.
