Destiny 2 Release Date Announced

Bungie today released a cinematic teaser for Destiny 2 while opening up pre-orders. It’ll be coming out September 8th on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, if you care, that is. The feeling around IBeatItFirst.com is one of, “yay?” The reason for this is that when Destiny launched, the hype was massive, and while the FPS mechanics were solid, the game fell short. It was short in fact, and the loot was confusing, and it just didn’t live up to the hype.

Bungie corrected this over several expansions, but unfortunately lost a lot of early adopters, including me. Bungie’s hope with Destiny 2 is to lure them back. I’m cautiously optimistic and hope to get a better look at E3, but for now, I’m not holding my breath.

While we don’t know much, the trailer does lay out the story for us. The city has fallen, and the tower destroyed. Your weapons are gone, and so is your power. The enemy is a man named Ghaul who leads the Red Legion, an elite unit of Cabal. Now, you must gather together, and retake the city as the survivors have scattered. What I’m hoping to see is multiple base camps around the planet, vs. just the same Tower from the first one. This would at least lend the game to more variety than the first entry. So what say you, what are you hoping to see? What direction do you think Bungie will take?
