Downloadable via PSN and Xbox 360
Hard Corps: Uprising is a downloadable game for the PS3 or Xbox360 and is meant to be a direct prequel to the old school game Contra: The Hard Corps. Hard Corps Uprising does not disappoint as a Contra title and the game looks amazing. Getting upgraded weapons and decimating the enemy is extremely satisfying and some of the boss battles are as epic as a full release title.
One small little problem, the game is hard as balls, Hard Corps indeed. Even as a shooter fan some of the levels depended highly on reply a la Battletoads style where the only way to get through certain parts is to remember all the times you failed. “But Jason this is what a shooter is all about” Yes I get it and that’s also why I liked the game, but I’m just shooting people straight (pun intended) so they know what to expect. All in all if you are a huge fan of the Contra series and love clean anime styling then give Hard Corps: Uprising a shot as its a great little multiplayer game to play together. However if you are prone to anger easily or don’t have a lot of patience you may want to pass this one up.
As for me I will hold on to this one, the game has a level up system that can eventually help make the game “easier” so I will hopefully get more out of it, but by then I may just be a Hard Corps expert…ha.
