More DL games coming at you!  This time we are more polarized than other SoJ posts but don’t worry as its just my opinion man.

Awesomenauts:  Sounds awesome right?  Well its acutally just ok, but  “OKnauts” doesn’t have the same ring to it as AWESOMEnauts so I guess Ill let that one slide.  Awesomenauts is another Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, think Team Fortress 2 or Monday Night Combat, only Awesomenauts is set in 2D, not an FPS.  The game is set up well and the balance between characters is there, it just got extremely boring really fast for me, as apposed to the FPS style of other games of this type.  With TF2 there is definitely an advantage to having skill and the time invested into the game, where Awesomenauts seemed to peek after the initial learning curve with each class.  The problem is, when you would start a game with veterans on both sides, everybody knows the limits and ranges of everyone’s attacks.  What ends up happening is a very long stalemate between both sides until luck sways the match.  Some may think “wow what an epic battle” but I assure you these battles were anything but epic.  On the plus side Awesomenauts is very well designed and the extras available to you can break the tedium but there is definitely a short shelf life for this game.  Awesomenauts is also slated to come to Steam here shortly and that may bring some new life to it, but in total the game is a good weekend diversion at max.

Renegade Ops:  Ok I may be showing my age here but does anybody remember the Strike series? (Desert, Jungle, Urban…any of them really)  Well have you ever thought to yourself:  “Boy I sure did love the Strike games, I wish they would come out with something like that for current gens.”  well you are in luck.  Renegade Ops is as close to a Strike clone as you can get.  The story may not be that fantastic but the visuals are great and it plays just like any old Strike game.  For those of you who haven’t played a Strike game before think top down vehicle based shooter where you shoot in the direction of the right thumb-stick.  While Renegade Ops isn’t exactly blowing the genera out of the water it is a fantastic rendition and well worth the time.
